Activities

GWS R&D departments are working on providing products adapted to the major future challenges, such as global warming and limited water resources, to offer farmers the best possible solutions. GWS Corn breeding program is developing hybrids from FAO 180 to FAO 700 , it started more than 30 years ago in the United States while in 2005 was shifted in Europe.

Changing climatic conditions require increasingly adaptive products with a focus to the following parameters:

• High yield stability
• High quality of grain and silage
• Heat and drought tolerance
• MSS technology
• Plus technology

Sales & Marketing

GWS operates through subsidiaries across Europe, Middle East, Cyprus, Türkiye and South Africa.

We offer our products and services in almost 35 countries worldwide. Our subsidiaries sales teams and regional managers work closely with our partners and farmers, offering them support aimed at maximizing their profitability and their products’ added value.

With our personalized advice, along with our international perspective we can offer our customers a better understanding of the global trends and support their current and future needs.

R&D

GWS is committed to developing competitive as well as innovative products. Our commitment is to offer new products with improved agronomic characteristics, particularly in terms of tolerance to adverse climatic conditions.

Our teams provide a constant flow of new products, tested in real growing conditions. Our main breeding directions concern

• Yield increase and stability to various agroclimatic conditions
• Stress tolerances improvement (e.g. resistance to drought and heat, salinity,
diseases etc.)
• Quality improvement (e.g. protein & oil content, food value, digestibility, fiber
strength etc.)

Multiple Security System (MSS) technology

In MSS technology, a big part of the new corn lines is created by doubling haploids that take place in controlled environment of moderate to moderately strong drought and heat stress

The lines themselves as well as their hybrids, are also evaluated under drought and heat conditions in various locations worldwide.

With the MSS technology we achieve the accumulation of genes that determine drought resistance throughout the breeding process.

The effect of the MSS application is evident in dry years when the MSS plants maintain the state of fresh green for 5 to 10 days longer than those of other companies. In this way, plants extend the period of use of even negligible water resources, sometimes achieving astonishing yields compared to competing products.

Production

Objective: to offer high quality seeds, guaranteeing full traceability to ensure customer satisfaction. Golden west seeds are produced in various countries worldwide, following the highest production standards in every step of the production process.

Plus Technology

With innovative Plus technology, GWS focuses on alternatives to conventional seed treatment applications.

GWS’s Plus technology can positively influence and strengthen Cotton and Corn during germination and early growth.

Advantages:

• Improved germination
• Increased root and strong early plant growth
• Improved water and nutrient absorption
• Improved stress tolerance
